Job Opening: Environmental Specialist at EPDA Cameroon

The Environmental Protection and Development Association (EPDA) in Cameroon is hiring for the position of Environmental Specialist. This is a part-time role based in the North West and South West Regions.

About EPDA EPDA is a Cameroonian non-profit NGO established in 2010. Headquartered in Bonadikombo-Limbe, EPDA implements development programs across sectors like environment, agriculture, WASH, livelihoods, and capacity building. EPDA partners with national and international donors.

Position Overview The Environmental Specialist will contribute to promoting sustainable environmental practices, addressing challenges, and implementing conservation initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct environmental impact assessments and identify mitigation measures
  • Assist in designing environmentally sustainable projects
  • Advocate for environmental policies at local, national, international levels
  • Work on biodiversity conservation projects like habitat restoration
  • Develop climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies
  • Engage communities to promote environmental awareness and participation
  • Collect and analyze environmental data, utilize GIS mapping
  • Deliver environmental education programs and raise awareness
  • Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, international organizations
  • Monitor and report on outcomes of environmental programs
  • Contribute to grant proposals and fundraising efforts

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in environmental science, ecology or related field
  • 3+ years experience in environmental management and conservation
  • Ability to build relationships, meet deadlines, follow reporting procedures
